Andreas Graichen, M.Sc., was born 1968 in Göttingen, Germany. After studying Mechanical Engineering in Braunschweig, Germany, and Linköping, Sweden, between the years 1988 and 1994 he immigrated to Sweden. There Andreas was employed by ABB STAL in Finspong as welding engineer and project manager for workshop investment projects. The company was bought by ALSTOM (1998) and later by Siemens (2003). Between 2003 and 2010 Andreas was active in the company’s union and chairman of its academic branch. In 2003 Andreas started his career as Specialist for Thermal Manufacturing Processes. In this capacity he introduced additive manufacturing in 2007 into the workshop in Finspong. In 2009 the first SLM machine was bought. When the AM Center of Competence in Finspong was founded, Andreas became its group manager in 2013. In the global setup of Siemens Gas Turbine activities, Andreas is now responsible for the digitalization of AM. In 2017 he was appointed Principal Key Expert for Manufacturing Engineering.
