DDMC 2016 – a resounding success!
From March 16 - 17 2016 the 3rd Fraunhofer Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference (DDMC) took place in Berlin. With 6 keynotes, 54 presentations in 16 sessions and 12 posters, DDMC 2016 was a truly immersive experience for the well over 150 conference delegates participating.
We were particularly pleased by the variety of conference participants. Attendees from 20 different countries and from both industry and academia took full advantage of the conference’s networking opportunities, on the conference floor as well as at the social events. In terms of the latter, the conference dinner on Wednesday evening was a particular highlight. The bygone splendor of the mirror hall in Clärchens Ballhaus will certainly be remembered by all, and who ever knew you could fit so many people at one table?
Our congratulations go to the winners of the Best Paper Award (Chris Bailey, Stoyan Stoyanov, Tim Tilford and Georgios Tourloukis from the University of Greenwich (UK) for their paper on “Modelling Methodologies for Quality Assessment of 3D Inkjet Printed Electronic Products”) and Best Poster Award (Łukasz Żrodowski, Bartłomiej Wysocki et al from the Warsaw University of Technology (Poland) for their work on “The Novel Scanning Strategy For Fabrication Metallic Glasses By Selective Laser Melting”) – well done, everybody!
Last, we would like to thank all keynote speakers, presenters, session chairs, committee members and our organizing team for the part they played in this truly memorable event.
